Egg bonda / Spicy egg bonda

Makes : 3


Ingredients : ( 1 cup = 240 ml )
  • Gram flour / Kadalai maavu - 1 cup
  • Rice flour / Arisi maavu - 1/4 cup
  • Red chilli powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Turmeric powder - a pinch
  • Onion - 2 tbsp finely chopped
  • Curry leaves - 1 tbsp finely chopped
  • Green chillies - 1 finely chopped
  • Water - as needed 
  • Baking soda / Soda-bi-carbonate - a pinch
  • Oil - for deep frying 
  • Eggs - 3 
  • Chaat masala - 1/2 tsp

Method :
  1. Boil the eggs for 12-15 minutes. Peel and keep aside.
  2. Take a bowl, add gram flour, rice flour, red chilli powder, salt, turmeric powder, onion, green chilli, curry leaves.
  3. Add needed water and mix to a smooth batter without any lumps.
  4. Add baking soda. Mix well.
  5. The batter should be thick and fluffy.
  6. Cover and keep aside for 15 minutes.
  7. Take the whole egg drop in batter and coat well with the batter.
  8. Gently drop in hot oil.
  9. Cook on medium flame till its cooked, crispy and golden brown in colour.
  10. Strain from oil and drain excess oil on paper towel.
  11. Just before serving cut the bondas, sprinkle some chaat masala.
  12. Serve hot.
