Pav bhajji






Preparation time : 10 mins
Cooking time : 15 mins
Serves : 2-3 persons 


Ingredients : ( 1 cup = 240 ml )
  • Carrot - 1/2 cup 
  • Cauliflower - 1/2 cup
  • Brinjal - 1/2 cup 
  • Potato - 1/2 cup
  • Cabbage - 1 cup
  • Green peas - 1/4 cup
  • Oil - 3 tsp
  • Onion - 1 medium
  • Tomato - 1 medium
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
  • Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Pav bhajji masala - 1 tbsp 
While serving :
  • Pav buns - 6-8
  • Onion - 2 tbsp
  • Coriander leaves - few
  • Lemon wedges - few
  • Butter - 2 tsp

Method :
  1. Chop all the veggies.
  2. In a pressure cooker add carrot, cauliflower, brinjal, potato and cabbage.
  3. Take a small bowl add green peas and place the bowl on top of the veggies. Add one cup of water. Cover and cook for 3 -4 whistles.
  4. Wait till the pressure is released. Remove the peas bowl and keep aside. Mash the veggies well and keep aside.
  5. Heat a pan add oil. Saute onion till slight brown.
  6. Add ginger garlic paste, cook till the raw smell goes. Add tomatoes and cook till mushy.
  7. Now add chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala and salt. Mix well and cook for 2 mins.
  8. Pour mashed veggies and green peas, mix well and cook for 2 mins.
  9. Sprinkle pav bhajji masala. Mix well and cook for 5 mins and keep aside.
While serving :
  1. Heat a tawa. Grease some butter.
  2. Add one tbsp of pav bhajji .
  3. Cut and slit the pav buns. And place it over the bhajji.
  4. Fry for 30 sec on each side.
  5. And take bhajji in a bowl. Sprinkle onion and coriander leaves.
  6. Squeeze 4-5 drops of lemon.
  7. And 1 tsp of butter on the top.
  8. Serve hot with toasted pav with bhajji.

Chop all the veggies 

Chop onion and tomato

Take carrot, cauliflower, cabbage, brinjal and potato in a pressure cooker 

Take green peas in a bowl 

Place the bowl on top of the veggies.
Pour one cup of water. Cover and cook for 3-4 whistles

Open once the pressure is released. Remove the peas bowl and keep aside

Mash the veggies well and keep aside

Heat oil in a pan, saute onion till it turns slight brown

Add ginger garlic paste. Cook till the raw smell goes

Add tomato. Cook till its mushy

Add chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala and salt

Mix well and cook for 2 mins 

Pour the mashed veggies and green peas

Mix well and cook for 2 mins 

Sprinkle pav bhajji masala 

Mix well and cook for 5 mins 

While serving :


Cut and slit the pav buns 

Heat a tawa. Grease some butter, Add 1 tbsp of  pav bhajji 

Place the buns over it 

Cook for 30 sec on each side

Take bhajji in a bowl, sprinkle onion, coriander leaves,
 4-5 drops of lemon and 1 tsp of butter

Serve hot
