Broccoli curry | Green kurma | Green masala curry






Preparation time : 10 minutes
Cooking time : 20 minutes
Serves : 3-4 persons



Ingredients : ( 1cup = 240 ml )
  • Olive oil - 2 tbsp
  • Cinnamon - 1 inch stick
  • Cardamom - 3 pods
  • Cloves - 2
  • Bay leaves - 1 
  • Onion - 2 medium sized, chopped
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
  • Tomato - 1 medium sized, chopped
  • Broccoli - 200 grams
  • Frozen peas - 1/2 cup
  • Salt - to taste
  • Boiled potato - 1 large, cubed
Green masala paste :
  • Coconut - 1/4 cup
  • Cashew nuts - 1/4 cup
  • Fennel seeds / Sombu - 1 tsp
  • Green chillies - 3 
  • Coriander leaves - 1 cup

Method :
  1. Take a mixer jar, add coconut, cashew nuts, fennel seeds grind to a coarse.
  2. Then add coriander leaves and green chillies. Grind to a smooth paste by adding needed water.
  3. Heat oil in a pan, pop cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and bay leaves.
  4. Saute onion till its soft and translucent. Add ginger garlic paste fry till the raw smell goes.
  5. Add tomato, cook for 2 minutes. Don't cook till its mushy.
  6. Add grinded paste and cook for 2 minutes.
  7. Add broccoli and frozen green peas. ( If using fresh peas, boil till its half done then add to the curry)
  8. Add half cup of water and salt. Mix well.
  9. Cover and cook for 5- 10 minutes.
  10. Add boiled potato. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes.
  11. Serve hot with poori or chapati.
