Chicken Frankie






Preparation time : 20 mins
Cooking time : 20 mins
Makes : 6 pieces


Ingredients : ( 1 cup = 240 ml )

For roll :
  • Maida / All purpose flour - 2 cups
  • Salt - to taste 
  • Water - as needed
  • Oil - 1/2 tsp
For stuffing :
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Onion - 1 large chopped
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
  • Tomato paste - 1 cup
  • Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt - to taste 
  • Boneless chicken pieces - 2 cups chopped
For salad :
  • Onion - 1 sliced
  • Lettuce - 1 cup chopped
  • Cabbage - 1 cup Shredded
  • Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt - to taste 
  • Lemon juice - 1/2 tsp
For assembling :
  • Egg - 6
  • Pepper powder - 2 pinch
  • Salt - a pinch

Method :

For roll :
  1. Take maida and salt. Add needed water.
  2. Knead to a soft dough.
  3. Apply oil and set aside for 15 mins.
  4. Divide the dough into six equal parts.
  5. Dust with the flour and roll it like chapati.
  6. Heat a tawa. Place the chapati on it.
  7. Cook on both sides till it gets slight brown spots.
  8. Remove and keep aside.
For stuffing :
  1. Heat oil in a pan, add onion saute till it turns slight brown.
  2. Add ginger garlic paste. Mix well and cook till the raw smell goes.
  3. Pour tomato paste. Add chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala, cumin powder and salt.
  4. Mix well and cook for 5 mins.
  5. Add chicken pieces. Sprinkle some water. Cover and cook till the chicken is done and till the water absorbs.
  6. Keep aside.
For salad:
  1. Take onion, lettuce and cabbage in a bowl.
  2. Add chilli powder, pepper powder, salt and lemon juice.
  3. Mix well and keep aside.
For assembling :
  1. Crack an egg in a bowl, add pepper and salt. Whisk and keep aside.
  2. Heat a tawa, place one chapati, pour the egg, flip, apply oil and cook till its done.
  3. Transfer it to a plate.
  4. Place 2 tbsp of stuffing. Spread some salad.
  5. Roll tightly. Wrap with aluminium foil.
  6. Serve hot.

For roll :

Apply oil and keep aside for 15 mins

Divide the dough into 6 equal balls

Dust with the flour 

Roll like a thin chapati 

Heat a tawa. Place the chapati

Cook till it gets slight brown spots on both the sides 

For stuffing :

Heat oil in a pan, add onion, saute till it turns slight brown 

Add ginger garlic paste, cook till the raw smell goes 

Pour tomato paste 

Add chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala, cumin powder
and salt. Mix well and cook for 5 mins 

Add chicken pieces 

Sprinkle some water 

Cover and cook till the chicken is done and till the water absorbs 

For salad :

Take onion, lettuce and cabbage in a bowl

Add chilli powder, pepper powder, lemon juice and salt

Mix well and keep aside 

For assembling :

Break an egg, sprinkle pepper powder and salt

Whisk well and keep aside 

Heat a tawa, place one chapati 

Pour egg mixture 

Flip and cook till its done

Apply oil 

Cook till its done 

Transfer to a plate, Place 2 tbsp of stuffing 

Spread some salad 

Roll tightly 

Wrap with aluminium foil 

Serve hot
