Lady's finger mutton curry







Preparation time : 5 mins
Cooking time : 40 mins
Serves : 5-6 persons



Ingredients : ( 1 cup = 240 ml )
  • Mutton pieces - 300 gms
  • Oil - 2 tbsp + 1 tsp
  • Onion - 1 large chopped
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
  • Tomato - 1 large chopped
  • Onion & Tomato paste - 1 cup ( Grind equal quantities of onion and tomato to a paste )
  • Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1 tsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Kara kulambu masala - 2 tbsp
  • Lady's finger / vendakkai / bhindi - 10-12 pieces
  • Coconut paste - 1/2 cup ( Grind coconut pieces to smooth paste by adding little water )
  • Tamarind water - 1/4 cup
  • Coriander leaves - few


Method :
  1. Clean and wash the mutton pieces.
  2. Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan, Add chopped lady's finger.
  3. Saute for 5 mins or till it turns slight brown in colour and keep aside.
  4. Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Saute onion till it turns soft and pink.
  5. Add ginger garlic paste and cook for 2 mins.
  6. Add mutton pieces. Coat well and cook for 5 mins.
  7. Add tomato and onion tomato paste. Mix well and cook for 2 mins.
  8. Now goes chilli powder, coriander powder, kara kulambu masala and salt.
  9. Mix well and pour 3 cups of water.
  10. Cover and cook for 4 whistles or till the mutton is cooked.
  11. Open once the pressure is cooked.
  12. Add coconut paste, tamarind water and fried lady's finger.
  13. Mix well and cook for 5-7 mins.
  14. Sprinkle coriander leaves and serve hot with rice.

Clean and wash the mutton pieces

Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan add lady's finger

Saute till it turns slight turns brown and keep aside

Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Saute till it turns soft and pink

Add ginger garlic paste cook for 2 mins 

Add mutton pieces 

Cook for 5 mins

Add tomato

Add onion & tomato paste. Mix weel and cook for 2 mins

Add chilli powder, coriander powder, kara kulambu masala and salt

Pour 3 cups of water. Cover and cook for 4 whistles or till the
 mutton is cooked 

Open once the pressure is released 

Add coconut paste 

Add tamarind water 

Add fried lady's finger 

Mix well 

Cook for 5-7 mins 

Sprinkle coriander leaves 

Serve hot with rice
