Onion bajji





Preparation time : 10 mins
Cooking time : 5 mins

Ingredients : (1 cup = 240 ml)
Onion - 1
Oil - for frying

Batter :
Gram flour/kadalai maavu/besan atta - 1 cup
Rice flour - 1/2 cup
Chilli pwd - 1 tsp
Turmeric pwd - 1/2 tsp
Salt - to taste
Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
Baking soda - a pinch


Method :
1. Take a bowl add all the ingredients listed under 'batter' and mix well.
2. Slowly add water and whisk well and form a smooth batter.
3. The batter should be in dropping consistency.
4. Peel the onions and dice it.
5. Heat oil in a pan for deep frying.
6. Dip the onion slices in prepared batter and coat it completely.
7. Deep fry on medium hot oil. Stir occasionally and fry well on both sides till it reaches golden brown and crispy. Drain the bajjis from oil and strain on kitchen towel.
9. Serve hot.

Take all the ingredients listed for batter

Mix well

Add water

Make a smooth batter without any lumps

Dice the onions

Dip the onion slice into prepared batter 
and coat it completely

Coated onion

Deep fry on medium hot oil

Stir occasionally and fry well on both sides till it reaches
golden brown and crispy. Strain from oil

Serve hot
